On the sidelines of his visit to the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) Headquarters, Abuja, to defend his Ph.D. Dissertation, former President of Nigeria, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, together with his entourage visited the Olusegun Obasanjo Good Governance and Development Research Centre (OOGGDRC), NOUN, on Wednesday, December 06, 2017.
Receiving the august visitor, the Director of the OOGGDRC, Professor Abdullahi Shehu, welcomed the former President briefed him on the activities of the Centre, which include research and community services. He further expressed his delight and appreciation to the former President for creating the time to visit the Centre, which served as an encouragement to the staff of the Centre.
He assured the former President, in whose name the Centre was established, that the Centre will promote the legacies of the former President, particularly in the area of research on good governance issues and support for all efforts to deepen the socio-economic development and political stability of Nigeria.
In response, Chief Obasanjo said he was happy to see the Centre and noted the initiatives towards the realization of the vision, mission and mandate of the Centre after it was formally inaugurated in May 2017. He assured of his continued support and encouraged the staff not to relent in their efforts.
The former President then proceeded to pay a courtesy call on the Vice Chancellor before departing from the University.
